What is fostering?

Fostering involves looking after children or young people who are not your own. Some will need a family to care for them for a few weeks or months whilst plans are made for their future. Some may remain in foster care throughout their childhood years, while others may simply need a few days’ break from their own home.

Every child deserves a family life, giving them the self esteem, values, life skills and confidence to take them forward successfully into adult life – and providing these is the role of a foster carer.

Depending on their experience, confidence and ability to meet their needs, we look to “match” carers with a child or children that we believe they can best help – and, should you express an interest, that can include family groups or children with specific needs or behavioural issues.
